So I really want to do a strat with a camphor burl lam top with either an alder or swamp ash body but the problem I am running into is how to finish the back. If I order custom from Warmoth, they don't offer an option to stain or dye the back. The back would just be a clear gloss finish. I would really prefer the back to be a transparent brown and in that case I would use swamp ash; or a black gloss which I would then use alder.
I have considered just doing the finish myself but I am worried I may get color bleed into the camphor burl top if I try to stain the back. I have also thought about even doing a black to clear burst on the top so this wouldn't be an issue and then doing the back as black gloss but I don't know if the camphor burl would even play well with that kind of finish.
