Well, after several attempts and mistakes I'm finally done with the finish on my Tele. It's my first and it's got some imperfections. I did learn some lessons though. Such as:
1. Never underestimate how easy it is to sand right through lacquer.
2. You can never spray too much lacquer because it sands right off.
3. If I had done a better job on the filler maybe the clear coat might have come out better.
I can still see some of the orange peel in some areas and other spots where it looks like the grain needed filled more. Fortunately, most of that will be covered by the pick guard and other parts.
Doing one of these gives you a real appreciation for some of the really professional work done by people like Tonar and Cagey. Thanks for all the tips and the filler Tonar!
