First of all, I played the Strat and Tele versions of this at a Guitar Center to check out the series, and then ordered a Jazzmaster off the interwebz (AMS, if anyone cares... shipped to my house in 2 days for free). I'd like to pass along some of my impressions if any of you are considering these. To be clear, I ordered the black Jazzmaster with the mint green pickguard.
Good points:.
The pickups sound awesome (Jazzmaster single neck and humbucker bridge balance nicely and provide some great, useable tones)
The finish is great; no blems visible on any of the instruments I played.
The neck has a tinted gloss poly finish, which I love (some of you don't, but I *hate* the Fender satin finishes, no matter Squier, Mexi or American).
After a quick setup, it plays like butter. It's a *very* friendly instrument all around to play.
It's fairly light weight and well balanced.
Bad points:
I came with horrid action (like 2 full turns on the truss rod almost).
Stripped screw on the humbucker height adjust (wtf, seriously).
Sharp fret ends (I'm 100% sure this is God poking fun at me for complaining about Warmoth inconsistencies). I'm having my luthier work on these soon.
Those knobs are ass ugly.
All in all, these things sell for 450 all over the place, and they're ridiculously better than the standard Mexi offerings, and well worth the money. I'm going to buy a Fender case for it and I'll be into the thing less than 600 bucks (even after my luthier makes it more comfortable for my apparently picky hands). A Warmoth would certainly be better in many ways, but I love my production guitars for certain things.
