Hello all,

We're now announcing the February, 2013 Guitar of the Month contest!  February's contest will be "OPEN" to all finishes, but still require at least a Warmoth neck or body to qualify.

Please read the GOM rules, which have been refined, with some slight changes, and are posted in a sticky in this forum area.

Submissions must be sent, to uwfgom@gmail.com, and contain two images no greater than 1024x768, along with your description and details of the instrument.

In turn, those images will posted to this message, which is February's submission thread.

Submissions will be accepted from now until to February 7th, so get your cameras clicking!

As usual, all discussion for the submissions can take place below, along with other pictures hosted by the poster.

Good luck, and may the best guitar/bass win!

Found this alder strat copy in a pawn shop and brought it home for $50. I trashed everything but the body... all other components are new.  I did all the relic work on the finish, and reassembled with Texas Special pups, vintage tuners & a mint green pickguard to have a 50s appearance with a crunchy, bluesy bar room sound.  All hardware, except the bridge, is nickel and has been reliced using muriatic acid.

The neck is Warmoth vintage modern:  One-piece maple, std thin contour, 6105 frets, clear satin finish.  I did not relic the neck.

Why was my entry photo cropped and edited? It was smaller than the max size...

Because your submission violated both the spirit of, and letter of the rules.  You submitted three images.  Two of them were cleverly joined to be one .JPG file, but... were still two images.

The limit is two.

I edited your first image, to be more in keeping with what most folks submit - a full shot, and a close up.  I omitted the back of the instrument.

Please understand, that technically, your submission could have been rejected, but I had the extra time to edit the images, so I did.

We've also had what appears to be a robo-entry.

An attached .ZIP file and some BS message about a military theme.

I sent a response asking for the username, regular .jpg image files, and a description, and got back an email that was the same as the first.

If its semi-legitimate, and you're reading this, you're disqualified because you stated it neither used a Warmoth body or neck, and because you cannot follow the simple rules.

Ok, I wasn't trying to get away with anything. I didn't think for a second that I was "in violation of the spirit or the letter of the rules." Yeesh. It's not like anyone is going to vote for a bass anyway  :icon_tongue:

Wow. 6 raw necks, 5 of them wenge!
Best of all: no teles!!!
(and only 3 with gold hardware)
