That "Under my Thumb" cover was great. I actually remember a fairly brief period, about 1977 to 1985 or so, where bar bands would take some pride in taking a "moldy oldy" and kicking it's ass like that. There were a lot of great songs where the playing was sublimated - Steppenwolf, the Doors, early Stones, all that stuff was measured and designed for AM radio singles market of the 1960's. I played bass in a few bands with guitarists who could slay those things, and there was (at least) one band in every city doing it too. Between MADD, Walkmans->iPods, MTV->YouTube an awful lot of places have lost their live music scenes. I've actually been off on this lately:

Aerosmith is a really schizophrenic band - they were a great rock band for a few albums, then they got too drugged, and when they came back it was with croony power ballads like "Crazy" and Jaded" and "Crying." But they're still a rock band once in a while. As many pointed out, this is actually a cover of the AC/DC cover of an old blues song. Thank double-dog they did it better than Celine DIon. :toothy12:

Aerosmith have done some awesome covers in their day:
"Big Ten Inch" and "Train Kept A-Rollin'" both spring to mind.  I had never heard this version of "Baby Please Don't Go", but it does remind us that Aerosmith have not always been prom-balladeers, and can rock the house pretty hard.  And for the record, I believe they're covering AC/DC's cover of Them (with Van Morrison) covering Muddy Waters, covering Big Joe Williams (who may or may not have originated the song - other scholars will need to answer that).

Thought I'd toss in a Zep cover  :icon_thumright:
