A friend pointed me towards this, and I have to admit I really enjoy it.  No it won't win any awards, or get much cred outside of a certain circle or two, but it is quite fun.

Love it!  :party07:

LOVED the Super Mario cover. Headbanging Mario! It made me think of a King Crimson cover by a Norwegian heavy metal/jazz band that I can't find at the moment. I did find these though...

(though they skip the really tricky bits in the middle, not that I blame them, and add a cliché ending)

(RIP Ian Wallace)

(Entombed also do other classics, good to hear a metal drummer who can play more than one beat)

Alright we're a couple dozen posts in and I didn't see these covered, so let me just get them out of the way. Saw someone grabbed Joe Cocker already so we're good on that, nice

Somewhat embarrassed that it took me this long to remember this (crank the volume and weep like a child):

Yes, forgot about that one.  Love it, but they left out a verse.

I'm kind of on the fence on Korn and Brick in the Wall 1-3.  While I'm not really fond of covering songs that are classics, I do like the energy they put into it.  Gave it a nice kick in the a$$!

I almost forgot about this one, a band called Edgewater from Dallas, TX. Did a cover of I won't back down...

And then there's this ridiculous one by Far, of a Ginuine club song

No youtube for this but speaking of FNM there's this little gem of a cover I like

I think they did a nice job of it, they didn't butcher it like some other covers. Put a heavier edge to it...Like you said, a kick in the ass... :headbang1:

Good to see that they can play much more than just power chords...

Wow  :icon_thumright:  thanks all so far that have posted your Favorite cover versions …. Great to see what different people choose.

:icon_scratch:  Some bands I've never heard of, or seen before …… I really need to get out more  :icon_jokercolor:

Thanks @mrpinter for the Midnight Oil (we gotta get out of this place) they were a local band in my area
that I saw many, many times & heard them play that song too … Gee thanks for the memories.

Frank Zappa dose a great version of 'Stairway To Heaven' Live ...... But you can look that one up !!

Anyway...
Here is another well done cover (well I think it is)

They never played that one live no matter how many times I begged.

During the video shoot, Warner broke a sting on the ESP and had no idea how to change strings on a Floyd. A kid in the 'audience' did it for him, and after the video was done, Warner gave him the guitar.

Always loved this version .... IMO, so much better than the Stones' version.  Cool solo section.

I used to think any song redone by a legit band automatically meant the song was good and the newest version was the best.  Many remakes are well done and could stand alone if I'd never heard the original.  However, a genre change, speeding up or slowing down the tempo, or simply adding more gain and changing nothing else......meh.

Really glad you posted that Zoots cover.  Had never heard it before - absolutely brilliant.

With that said, the Hendrix version of "all along the watchtower" is surely top of the pile.
