Well whats your Favorite all time Cover Version  :icon_scratch:
(Be interesting to see just how many great versions there are about the place)

Mine is this great Aussie Band 'The Zoot' from the 60's - 70's .....
Featuring ... Rick Springfield, Beeb Birtles, Darryl Cotton & Rick Brewer. Doing the Beatles classic Eleanor Rigby

OK so I was only a 10yo then (& loved it then) but still to this day can't find anything that tops this version !!

Hope you enjoy  :icon_biggrin:

That's an awesome cover. Here are a few of my favourites:

The amazing Devin Townsend bringing his delightful lunacy to New York New York:

Folk metal nutjobs Turisas doing Boney M's Rasputin:

Head Control System (featuring Garm, formerly of Arcturus and Borknagar) rocking Seal's Kiss From a Rose:

The now defunct Nevermore's take on Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence:

Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish doing Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera:

Australian / British Drum n Bass outfit Pendulum doing the ABC News theme:

Jason & The Scorchers doing John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads."

Shakalabbits do a great cover of Toots & the Maytals' "Pressure Drop" on their last album (Phasemeter Trippin' Bug Shake), but there's no video.

But they did do this cover, which isn't bad:

there are probably more, but this has the best solo in it.. ever! and also, I really like anything involving portnoy and morse...

This cover is always the first one I think of when the topic arises.

I won't argue if it's better or not, or if Roddy is better or worse than Eddie.

I just can't stand DLR.

p.s. There is no video, but if you listen through to the end, there's a pretty nifty guitar solo.

Here's my second favorite cover ever. Johnny completely owns this song.

Enjoy!

Although the title gives it away, I love this version of the song.  It always takes 30 second for people to figure out what it is...

This was an odd one to run across when it came out a few years ago.  Wait for it...I deliberately chose a video that takes a while to get to the "reveal".

I almost forgot this one as well...  Makes me laugh every time.

Well, every once in a while it's appropriate to show one's age:

whoa. I love a handful of the tunes from Johnny Cash's American Recordings series, but I didn't like that version of Personal Jesus at all...
That version of Eleanor Rigby on the other hand, I really enjoyed!

This is a great cover of Roxy Music's "More Than This":

Ghost, a new Swedish black metal band - I'm seeing them here in Malmö in about a week. Not sure how "metal" they are, but the "black" part is true enough. This is a great cover!

Patti Smith, doing "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Absolutely mindblowingly good. The way she says "Yeah." after each chorus curls my toes with pleasure.

Alien Ant Farm's cover of MJ's Smooth Criminal

My favorite Metallica cover, Blue Oyster Cult's Astronomy

anorakDan, I haven't herd the AC version of "Jump" in about 25 years, but hearing it again I am reminded why I loved it. Thanks for posting that!

6. Garth Brooks- Hard Luck Woman

7. Type O Negative- Cinnamon Girl

8. White Zombie- I'm Your Boogieman

9. Tesla- Signs

10. Warrant- Train, Train

11. Raintime- Beat It

A friend pointed me towards this, and I have to admit I really enjoy it.  No it won't win any awards, or get much cred outside of a certain circle or two, but it is quite fun.
