So far I have received my Wilkinson compensated dual load bridge/saddles, my input electrosocket jack and prewired switch/control plate from 920D, now waiting for the satin/clear swamp ash body and roasted maple neck and tuners to arrive from Warmoth.
I think I’m going to go with fender vintage ‘64 PU’s

Also grabbed a new soldering iron from Weller, a WLC100, and I need to start practicing some soldering since I’ve never done it before

I see a variety of wiring diagrams for three way switches and telecasters with little variances (for differences that are beyond me) is there one I should be following for a basic build?

I know this is business as usual for all of you with a number of builds under your belt but for me it’s getting pretty exciting! And terrifying 😂

If you have a prewired switch coming it will already be wired. It will probably have instructions of where to join the pickup wires to it.

If you just want a straightforward Tele wiring diagram here is a link.

Thanks for the link! 👍
nothing came with the pre-wired control/switch plate from 920D

Looks like I should have just a few wires to solder so I’m going to practice soldering some wires together just to get a feel for how much solder is applied each time to it so I don’t end up with big blobs of it all over the place LOL

Well, I'm looking forward to this build, too. There is only one first time. It should be a lot of fun for you. Congrats. Please post lots of pictures as you go along, starting with when the body and neck arrive. We're photo junkies here.  :icon_thumright:

It helps to tin the wires before soldering them together. Get a small blob of melted solder on the tip of your iron and put it on the wire that way first. I like to dip the tip of the wire in flux first so the solder sticks easily without excessive heat.

Tons of solder choices online at Amazon! any recommendations as to which solder to purchase?

Last year I bought a tele wiring harness from 920d.  It has 25 selections to get 9 different sounds. Having it prewired was a tremendous time saver, but it did come with a wiring diagram to solder the pups and the grounding wire. Might be worth contacting 920d to ask for a schematic.

I'm really pleased with it.

Seems the same as the Seymour Duncan one at a quick glance.
