Even CNC Machines get the munchies

Got a call from Warmoth -- CNC machine ate my body !!

They said this has been known to happen, just not very often. They'll give it another shot with a different rosewood top.

I liked the other one better, but this looks pretty cool too. (The neck will be different from this pic, but the body should be close)

That's a bummer.  Kudos to them for letting you know.  Looks like a killer build you have planned.  :icon_thumright:

Didn't think to ask for a pic - he made it sound like it was unsalvageable though. It would be interesting to see that!

It was pretty well hosed.  A chunk of the side blew out.  Definitely not salvagable.  Bonfire at my house anyone????

I wonder what kind of flavor Rosewood imparts to barbeque...

Tobacco.....

Now there's another use for your alder tele... alder smoked salmon!

It probably wasn't the CNC machine itself that messed up but the routing bit mounted in the spindle.
Way to be a buzzkill  :-\

Seriously though, that sucks... the mockup looks cool.

Did W offer you a refund, onedrop?  (I wouldn't have taken it, I'm just curious.)

Refund never came up; they suggested an alternate top (of equal value), I took a look at it and gave the go ahead.

Enough left to cut a V body out of it?

It was a hollow strat - so any other body shape would probably not work, unless you like the vented look.

Hopefully they can find something else to do with it, besides a bonfire, I'm not sure what tho.

Wenge toothpicks? Control cavity cover? (that would be pretty cool)

CNC mishaps can be knargly sometimes, wood is a little more forgiving. So it usually gets the worst end of it, metal on the other hand can be quite interesting when thing s go array....

Have any pictures of the result of that, Doug?
No not right off hand, when large chunks of metal are flayling about taking a pic is the last thing on your mind...... :laughing8:

Well, them.. Maybe you should get your camera, and then blow up a chunk of metal for the reason of taking a picture :P

I'm not sure DR6 will share your potentially suicidal tendencies - are you prepared to 'take one for the Gipper' DangerousR6?
No, the boy has lost his mind, must be from all the paint fumes he's breathing in painting the "Maccabster"....... :laughing11:

No paint fumes yet. Sanding only. Trying to fix possibly the stupidest grain filling mistake possible. I'll put up pics soon.

Oh, and thanks for the plate! It came today. Looks very shiny. (It shall be mounted so it looks like an M :D)
