ES-355 Body

It'd be great if Warmoth would sell a ES-355 style body.  I've been dying to build my own version of "Lucille".

They are not likely to do that anytime soon I would guess.  W does solid bodies.  Their chambered and hollow thinline bodies begin life as solid bodies as well.  A 335 is more similar to an acoustic guitar with it's separate back, top, and sides.  If you just wanted the body shape w/out being hollow, try scratch ordering a custom body from them.

can someone just for fun split and mirror this pic to see how an L5s would look with 2 cutaways????

I've asked about double-cutaway on the L5S, and if you do so it can't be chambered, and in that case what's the point. Plus it's not even close to the look of the real thing.

Just buy an Epi or Gibson, I don't see this happening at W anytime soon

not what I expected...... :( does not look like an ES 335 at all...

really? i think it just looks a little bit more round than a 335. It's hard to visualize it without any hardware or routes

By comparison to the ES 335 the L5S body is smaller. A double cut L5S looks more like a CS336 (pic below)..

Hi again,  Warmoth sells a "Hollow" L5S body.  See here: http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Bodies/Vintage/HollowL5S.aspx

(Its not really hollow as they leave what is basically a "block" of wood down the center.  Which is even better since a 335/345/355 is a "semi-hollow" body with a block down the center.)

I'm considering buying their L5S and cutting the other cutaway myself.  Just haven't gotten the courage up to do it.  Maybe I'll ask them what they would charge to do it for me... :laughing7:

It shouldn't be that much of a stretch for Warmoth to  make a Hollow body in the shape of a 355 (or 335).

i thought they had addressed this and it had to do with the strength and stability of the neck joint - with a symmetrical double cut (as opposed to asymetrical, like the Fender Starcaster) there's not much wood on either side where the neck joins the body and it's not stable or something to that effect.

All this stuff gets tricky and brings out the inner Ed Roman.  When Warmoth does chambering and hollow construction, it's brilliant.  When Gibson reintroduced chambering to the Les Paul, similar to W's L5S chambering, many say it ruined them.

that's definitely psychological as far as i'm concerned. it's a matter of expectations and pre-fabricated ideas of what something will or won't be like. half the market for gear is based on that

Definitely agree!

Right now im saving for an axe fx, Although i haven't tried one and probably never will all i have is youtube videos to help me decide. So alot of what i want to do is a presumption on how it will perform in certain tasks. I guess its the same when you buy a warmoth guitar, you can't actually see the guitar but will have an idea of how it will look and perform.

When I asked sales they said you would cut into the hollow area by making a second cutaway on the L5S
