What's up with that?
Do you have one that jumps out at you??

My latest project p90PoP (soloist) is significantly louder, (like 3 dB or more) than any of the other half dozen solidbodies around the house right now.

I've been swamped with extra work lately and haven't had time to set up for acoustic recording to get comparative decibel metering and spectrum analysis, but I am really curious what's up with this one.

Neck wood?
Body wood?
Bridge fixation?
Just the air cavity resonating the pickguard?

I dunno, but all my guitars (except the one with flatwounds) wear the exact same strings, and right now they're all new strings. Once I get set up I think I will test some neck swapping as I have three 7/8 necks all equipped with the same machine heads, and all have different wood combos...

I have noticed that acoustic volume does not always (and many times doesn't) equal a better sounding plugged-in tone.

I have a few that are loud acoustically

I have a few that resonate like crazy

There is some cross over.

I cant say its one wood combo or another.

Both my warmoth strat (chambered alder) and tele (alder) vibrate nicely.
My mahogany (chambered) vip doesn't.
They all sound good.
The vip sounds dull unplugged, but crazy good plugged in.
All 3 have spots on the neck that resonate more than others. L

Then, I have my latest, an ibby js2450 (always wanted one - amazing guitar) . This darned thing is alive, I swear! How does a floyded hyperstrat sustain more, vibrate more, and be louder than my hardtails? Its nuts and not even close. This thing sustains and vibrates like nothing ive played before.
All sorts of cool things happen when I play this one.

Overall probably the best playing and sounding factory guitar ive ever held. No lie.

my first guitar is a thinline tele style my dad and I built its mahogany and a maple top. It very loud acoustically. As for true solid bodies, I have noticed that pickguards can ad a bit of volume becaue they can vibrate or even just the air movement in the chamber created by the pickup/control cavity.
