Ed Roman is a genius, and a guitar craftsman god

How could you get the image that they are douchebags? He was stealing from them. Plain and simple. I don't think any of the big name companies would stand for that.

i just get the impression that they go around sueing anyone that builds guitars that look like there own, custom builders copy famous guitars all the time. i guess as big as ed romans name is it's understandable, this isn't a guy in his garage but it's not exactly high volume either these are built per order. being that they claim he sold olp guitars as ernie ball guitars if it is true then he got what he deserved, that's wrong of him on so many levels. but the part that i really dont understand is that he is not allowed to speak about the quality of the parts in ernie ball guitars. what ever happened to freedom of speech?  how can you legally tell a person that they are not allowed to express an opinion about anything?

I think they threw in the "Don't talk about us" stuff because of the way he just totally rags on a company that doesn't kiss his a$$. Did you ever read any of his rants about PRS and Gibson? Man, he goes off his nut big time. It's one thing to say "We don't carry such and such guitars because we don't believe in their quality" Ed Roman on the other hand goes off like "These guitars are pure sh!t. They use junk parts and I wouldn't waste my time taking a dump on them." He's insane. hahaha!! I was looking at his page today and couldn't find his rants section. It's gotta be on there though.

funny he still has stuff in there explaining his side of the story..

im guessing in the lawsuit they had enough on him to do damage to his company and the "you cant talk about us" may have been part of a settlement. i dont believe for a minute that an olp souned better than an authentic ernie ball with a bridge change and pickups, well maybe it did. but i think it had alot to do with his taste in pickups. and im guessing he was a dealer for ernie ball and he was openly saying dont buy that, buy this instead where he earned a large profit on each one of the olp guitars that he modified. i know eds a douch, just i may still be bitter about ernie ball killing the VW.

He wasn't just telling people to buy his instead, he was repainting cheap OLP's ,  and selling them not as an OLP, but as an EBMM.

Killing the VW was flat out dicky, I'll give ya that. As for Roman, well, you read enough of his rants and there seems to be one theme, everyone else is wrong and his word should be taken as gold. He really is off his nut. ha!! Personally, I've only dealt with him once and that was enough. I sent him an email asking how much a kit for a Kramer 5150 cost and he came back with this crap that if I had to ask then I couldn't afford it blah blah. I knew right then and there that I'd never give him any of my money. I just enjoy reading his rants. I didn't notice any rants about PRS guitars up there. I don't know if they kissed and made up or what but he had a rant up there where he just tore them up one side and down the other. hahaha!!

he rants about there new neck joint and the one that preceeded it and the fact that they dont offer ebony boards and the wrap around bridge that i think they offer alternatives to now. i think there used to be a rant specific to prs now the details are within other rants. he claimed that he never meant to represent them as ernie ball so it's there word against his unless you have been to his shop at the time he was selling them and have firsthand experience. i know he's an oppinioated guy and an arrogant ass but a theif and a liar, i dont doubt it but im not gonna say that about him unless i have the facts.

but yeah to tell a potential customer you cant afford it if you have to ask is utter bullshit, thats like saying im so good i dont need you there are enough people throwing money at me. thats like a new level of dickyness.

it's funny how he goes on about buying american but also goes on about how bad gibsons necks are, how bad prs is due to a lack of ebony as a fingerboard choice there huge neck joint and crappy wrap around bridges, how fenders are practically made in mexico, how bad the "non german" licence floyds on ernie ball guitars are, and on and on and on with examples of how bad this or that is but no real examples of an american instrument that is good. in fact just about everything that he's not making money from is shit. then he goes and upgrades an asian guitar with a german bridge and american pickups and sells it for 5 times the original cost and talks about how much better they were than the real ernie ball guitars. WTF he doesnt even believe the one thing he says that i agree with, buying american.
