hey i'm not concerned about the string or replacing it - just wondering how it could happen with my new guitar - that's all.

the string broke at the 7th fret.

i use .10 gauge strings.

but yes the weather has been constantly changing where i live - north new jersey - very close to new york city.

Do what we've been doing in Green Bay for the past couple of months--blame it on Brett Favre.

While I am not a Packers fan, I agree, this must be Brett Favre's fault.  Warmoth necks do not come with the ends of the frets rounded, they are beveled to 35 degrees or so, but nothing more than that.  This can be quite sharp, you feel it when sliding your hand up or down the neck.  I would guess that this could be a culprit if you have not had any work done to the frets.  It is more of an issue with stainless frets because they are harder, which can leave them sharper.  When bending, you are putting more strain on the string so that could cause it to fail, but the damage to the string could have happened at any point.

Call the guy who set up the guitar for you and let him know.  It's nothing a good fret dress won't fix if its a sharp end.  I highly doubt a bad batch of strings are the culprit at this point, but you can always change brands for testing purposes.
