would i stain the body a dark colour first then sand back then stain the body with the colour.....

also what grit of paper should i use if i was to sand back???
 
for dark stripes with light color, you dye the wood with black, sand it back, dye it again with color, burst the edges with dark opaque finish, then clearcoat it.

Sanding back... 220grit followed by 320 grit
