Dummy hole plug ? What's it called and where to find?

Hey there,

I need a plug to put in one of the holes of this plate.

I know I've seen them in the past, usually used to plug unused holes in amp chassis. I've seen chrome (like) ones and they usually have 3 tabs on the back that allow you to just push them into the hole and it just clips in there.

I have no idea what they're called or where to find so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I'd personally be more inclined to put a mystery knob on there with some old pot, just to see how many people could claim to hear the difference. A revangulator knob.... :laughing11: How many people have one of those?

LOL
Now that's a good idea, but no one sees me play anymore so I'd be turning it by mistake and wondering all of the time until it dawned on me...

I do. On my ruby Strat.

Only, I didn't call it a "revangulator" knob as that would be a bit misleading. It's actually a triasculator control. Put it in place of the second tone control, at great risk to my sanity and personal hygiene. It's hooked into cyberspace on one side, and a .021977uf crystallized unobtanium film capacitor on the other, with the wiper soldered to n-space using 92/8 silver solder. Wasn't easy to do, I can tell you. On the plus side, it adds midrange without compromising the purplish middle frequencies needed to augment the low end, which is quite woody while preserving the authenticity and chimey ring of a vintage '42 reverse polarity magnetometer. To believe it, you would not be able, but to hear it is to make a mess in your pants.

Of course, I could have just plugged the hole, or unclenched $25 for a new pickguard to eliminate the unsightliness of the thing, but I don't know if I could have withstood the ridicule. After all, all the cool guys have one.

I understand that Billy Gibbons has one of those on his  Billy Bo reduced size guitar to enhance the sustain of the instrument and produce more high notes...... only his is custom made by Emilio Estevez , Fernando's distant cousin, and has a special capacitor built into it so that only he can sound like that.    :icon_jokercolor:

That ........ or he just had his tech plug the unsightly hole with a dummy pot so that he could pull everybody's chain with it.  :tard:

LOL! Shove a 9v battery in there, insert a car cigarette lighter into the hole, and voila! Even if it only works for one lighting you've impressed the hell outta people. :occasion14:
(That would be a good mod for Billy Gibbons to try in the guitar he uses for "Tush", he usually grabs a cigarillo and looks for a light - while using a cigarette lighter as the slide!)

oh, but you must "stealth" the lighter as a regular knob, so idiot people can claim to "hear the difference" of your awesome (non-existent) mystery circuit. then all of a sudden, the knob goes "pop" out when its hot, you pull it out and light up.  :icon_thumright:
