is this the one with a karosa neck? how do you like them? I heard a lot of ehm mixed reviews about them.

We get that a lot.  We were a bunch of friends before we formed the band, so we do have a lot of fun.  And so does our audience, when we can manage to gig, which is finally changing, we've got ten shows booked between now and Christmas.  Thats a good number for us already, we're parents with day-jobs (except for my recently laid-off ass), we don't need three gigs a week, two per month is perfect for us.  Though I prefer band practices.  Everyone brings their kids, so we load them up with TV and pizza while all the parents lock themselves in the basement to... ehm...  "Rock".

Regarding Karosa Necks.  I too will give you a mixed review.  Yes, this one has a Karosa neck.  I'm not satisfied.  It took a long time to get the setup right on this guitar, and I finally just got it close to what I needed and left it alone after that.  The tuner holes are not lined up well and the truss rod adjustment is a bear to get to.  The other neck I got from him had worse setup issues and some frets that were'nt quite as level as they could have been.

However, I like the shape, I like the wood, I like the look.  And they were dirt cheap.  I just bought another for $45, a 24 3/4 scale PRS looking headstock with Jotoba/Jotoba for the neck and fingerboard.  I didnt even have a project planned, I just bid and won.  Ooops.  I guess I need to build another guitar.

LOL.  I started the first vid, "Thats what she said!"  nice...

Guitar sounds great though!  :icon_thumright:

I saw this a while ago, but finally remembered to ask. Is that a custom string through design? Its angled, but it doesnt look as sharp as others ive seen from warmoth (angle wise).

No, not custom stuff on the angle, it looks like the rest of them to me.

Here's another video of a band practice (just two hours ago) with me playing this guitar.  I'm plugged into a little Teisco Checkmate 15 (one of their few tube amps) that I found at the side of the road a few years back.

What the heck, here's another one from tonite...  Filmed by my 12 year old daughter, who is still working on her camera skills.

And for the Rocky Horror fans....

I thought I'd add a few more.  18 months after completion, I still really dig the guitar.

very nice indeed.

I love the PU  covers too.

God...I wish Warmoth made a double f-hole LPS.

If we beg enough, they might add it to their options.  They did get around to adding F holes to VIPs.  And they did get around to doing carved top teles, with F holes as an option.  I think its inevitable.  But it might take them a while.

But on to other matters...

Adding the new neck made all the difference in the world with this guitar.  It sounds surprisingly different.  Brighter, louder, more aggressive, it rings out more.  I don't know whether its psychosomatic on my part, but the difference is huge.

And then there's the feel.  I left the neck raw, naturally.  It feels great.  Nice profile, the standard thin was actually beefier than the old neck from Karosa.  I'm pleased with the shape.  Plus the Warmoth Modern truss rod system is brilliant.  I've never had such a straight neck.  It set up fast.  I can't really tell much of a difference with the Earvana nut, yet.  But I haven't really investigated it much.

Most of all, the Stainless Steel frets are a joy.  The strings bend with such ease and smoothness that I have to be careful not to overdo it.

All in all, I'm thinking of going ahead and adding a Warmoth to my other thinline and I'm looking towards the future for my next build.  This new neck is the most striking change to my guitar rig in a long time, and my rig changes way more than it should.  But suffice to say, this neck is here to stay.  Its the best.  Hands down.  It wins.  It rules.  It kills.
