Does anyone herehave serius radio?

I've had XM for a decade now. Can't imagine living without it. All the music channels are commercial-free, so if that's what you want it for, have no fear. I listen to some music on it, but the real treasure for me is the wide variety of talk, news, sports and entertainment choices. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, ESPN, you name it, it's there. My personal favorites are the stand-up comedy channels. I can spend hours on the road and never get bored.

My wife and I own our own petsitting business, so I'm in the car 100 miles a day. I can't say if it's worth it for just a daily drive to and from work, but for me it's priceless.

I read too fast sometimes. I read that as "My wife and I own our own petting business, so I'm in the car 100 miles a day." and my mind went "PING! That's a business? Where do I sign?" <grin>

Oh, trust me, there's plenty of petting.  :icon_biggrin:

For me it's not just the commercial creep, it's the idea of paying for stuff we didn't use to. There are now entire budget categories of susbcription services we all pay that for some folks are about a car payment - that DIDN'T USE TO EVEN EXIST. I mean $150 phone bills, and $150 cable bills - are not only doable - probably 1/3 the people I know have them. Get off my grass indeed, and yes I think I'll go admire my M-1 Garand now.

I don't have Sirius either, but I do like to jam along to TV or movies. It gets you thinking about trying to play something within a certain context or to fit a certain mood, instead of just noodling. Some might call it playing notes that "mean something," but I'haven't decided yet if I'm one of those people. Of course, I still noodle most of the time anyway, but that's beside the point.

I've got it in my car (still the free trial subscription right now); for home/work I've been rocking out with Pandora, it's 99% as good as Sirius AND it's free (ad-free is $3/month). Plus you can make your own "stations" based on artist, genre, etc.
