Doing a little research. I want to know if you personally refer to the part of a guitar's neck that holds the tuning pegs as the "peghead" or the "headstock".

Depends (for me anyway).  If it's a friction peg like on a violin or banjo or uke, it's a peghead.  If it's a guitar with geared tuners it gets a headstock.  So since most warmoths get geared tuners I'm going with headstock.

That's me.

I refer to it as a 'headstock' but I've read others use 'peghead' and I know what they're talking about. Rick's explanation is good in this regard.

I can get behind this. :icon_thumright:

Its like the difference between smallbutmighty or double A.  Basically the same thing.

Kidding. I was surfing between the TDPRI and here, saw the same question and put 2 and 2 together.

I say headstock.

Well sleuthed!  :headbang:

Just doing a bit of research. I felt like I knew in my gut what the common vernacular for these things was, by I wanted empirical evidence to support or refute my assumptions.

I think I'm in a majority by saying I use headstock most of the time when talking about guitars, but peghead when discussing fiddles or other instruments with friction pegs.  This is not a  hard-and-fast rule, however.

You're all wrong. It's called a...

No. If it's not Deep Purple, it's not Machine Head. All these wannabe rock 'n' rollers can pretend they had an original thought, but they didn't. They probably all think they invented sex, too  :laughing7:
