Diamondback vs SG body shape

I'm planning a Warmoth build for a friend who likes the look of the Diamondback shape but is wondering if it will feel much different from his SG, in terms of weight, balance, and how the guitar rests against your body. He would be doing both standing up at gigs and sitting down as a guitar teacher. Any info about SG vs Diamondback would be helpful :)

I can say that the offset shapes are comfortable, and nice when sitting down.  He has no worries.  As to the shape some like Picasso, others don’t, because he likes it he’ll be really happy.  It’s the design Gibson wishes they had made.

I like offsets from an ergo perspective, but... I just can't warm up to the fact that it's kinda sorta  supposed to be an SG, and the offset waist kinda looks like it has scoliosis.

Υοu may prefer the Warmoth version but that's incorrect. The SG is Gibsons most selling model and the only one that was never discontinued since it's introduction in '61. I believe they are satisfied with what they designed and offered.

As far as weight goes, yeah, the Diamondback may be heavier since, if your friend own a Gibson SG, it'll be a thicker body. SG's are usually only an inch and a half thick, while the Diamondback is a full 1 3/4". Ergonomically, I haven't noticed much difference between the two.

I'm with Tony on this one. if you can find an ESP Viper at a brick and mortar store and check it out you should have your answer.

:laughing11: So do I! Maybe that's why I like the Diamondback, I have mild scoliosis so I like the guitar with some mild bend in it too  :dontknow:

I really like the Viper shade from ESP, I think it's really comfortable. The Diamondback is thicker than an SG, so it'll be a little heavier, so hopefully it won't be so apt to neck dive!
