Deluxe 5 Jazz - which pickups will fit?

More specifically - Deluxe 5 Jazz, standard routs (4" neck and 4 1/8" bridge), Hipshot A bridge with 17.5mm/ 0.687" spacing.

Definitely fit:
Seymour Duncan SJ5 67/70 set - fit in the body - strings line up at bridge and pretty much at neck pickup.

Do not fit:
Seymour Duncan SJ5S 67/70 set - too short.


Does anyone here have any experience with any other pickup? I have searched the internet for this kind of info, but it is not easy to come by. The strings lining up is more for aesthetics - I understand that a little bit out here and there will not make a difference to the sound.

I suspect that these will fit too:

Aguilar AG 5J-60 (although, comparing SD and Aguilar sizes, there is a tiny difference)
Nordstrand NJ5F (and NJ5FS, I suppose)
Seymour Duncan SJ53 (as Warmoth themselves say it will)

Can't help specifically here, but I want to make sure that you (or others lurking) are aware that the various SD/Basslines 5-string J PU's are not all the same size - different models are different sizes, so make sure you check their dimensions diagrams.

Yup, thanks for that. There is a special SD set of 67/70 which are shorter too. I'll edit the first post and put that info in.

My favorite resource for things like this are these guys, Best Bass Gear.  They ship really fast, and not expensive, they called me to make sure a pick up worked after learning about unknown design attributes of another pickup, and they are just interested in making sure that your bass is how you want it.  Very cool folks.  They have all of the dimensions, and how to do measurements on the site.

That's a good resource, thanks for the input. Do you have any firsthand experience of other pickups? The list is rather short so far.

There is no list anywhere of pickups that fit the Warmoth Deluxe 5 Jazz bodies.

As you've seen, there is no industry standard for 5 string J pickups.  That's why Warmoth offers routing for three different sizes.

4" & 4 1/8": Fender Deluxe 5, SJ5 67/70, SJ53, possibly Bartolini 57x, Aero JBass 5 Type 'F'
3 5/8" & 3 3/4":SJB4, AJB5, Bart 59x
Both 3 3/4": SJ5 70/74, DiMarzio Ultra Jazz 5

I am sure that the Nordstrands will in one of the sizes.  I have a MM5.4 in my bass, and it fit fine.  Really cool pickup, if you get the hum cancelling Jazz pickups, I am sure you will have fun with them.
