Greetings.  Fed up with a certain other name brand guitar company's ridiculous pricing, I have decided to build a Warmoth LP.  I have ordered no less than exactly what I want so far.

Not to turn this into hero worship or a commercial, but I already own a custom made Warmoth strat, and Warmoth has delivered consistently, time and again, with outstanding quality.

So, I'll start things off with my build progress.  I ordered the neck some weeks back, here are the photos.

Neck is

Indian Rosewood for the core wood
Ebony Fingerboard
1 11/16" Nut Width,
Standard thin back profile,
6100 Frets,
Gotoh/Grover (13/32", 11/32") Tuner Ream,
22 frets,
10-16" Compound Radius,
Pearloid Blocks Inlay,
White Binding,
No Nut Install,
25-1/2 in. Scale

Brass nut!  (Big fan of John Sykes)

I actually had reservations about the heel construction, but I was reassured it was just as sturdy as a solid neck.

I just ordered my body, otherwise I'd link you folks to the photos of it.  I lucked out in that both the body and the neck were available as showroom pieces.

The body is the real beauty in this combination.  I'll post photographs as soon as I have it.

Will keep documenting as long as anyone's interested.  Cheers.

Welcome, SB! It's always nice to have another Minnesotan in the fold.

That's a nice neck. Can't wait to see more pics! Keep 'em coming.

Welcome to the forum, Sb39!

That's a sharp neck! I particularly like that Ebony.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Yes, that neck was actually my first lesson that not all ebony is solid black/dark brown, it can have lighter colored variations in the grain.  I like the variations, though, a lot.

I've always liked my Ebony to be jet black, but since hanging around here I've seen a lot of streaked cuts that are just spectacular.

nice! I wonder, though. When did Warmoth start offering the multilam necks with stringers?! Love 'm, though!

It's a showcase neck, if that helps.  Was $350, which is a lot cheaper than if you want it made to order with the same lumber (and assumedly from a solid piece of stock).

The body is where I spared no expense.  :evil4:

I got the Gotoh/Grover (13/32", 11/32") holes for the tuners, these are the ones I want, they will fit, yes?

Thanks, I can link you to the guy that sold me the nut on ebay.  He sells pre-cut brass nuts for Les Pauls.  :icon_biggrin:

I actually didn't cut this nut at all, nor polish it.

I'm not sure about those. These will work:

Wow, thanks so much for the links.  Those Stew-mac tuners are a LOT cheaper than anything Gibson peddles.

Too bad nobody has a TP-6 tailpiece equivalent cheaper than $100  :icon_tongue: (big TP-6 fan, going to put one on the new instrument...appalled at the fact that very recently, last 2-3 years, they were only $50, then Gibson decided to jack the price on them up by $50).

Schaller makes a fine-tuning tailpiece you might like...

That one is their "vintage copper" finish, but they come in 8 different finishes. Only problem is they're hard to find and you have to order them from Europe, so you may have to wait a couple weeks to see it. A couple places I found that has them are here and here for roughly $59.

Cagey, I shall check that out...I had no idea someone else made an equivalent.

One more photograph I left out originally.  I left it out cause I was self conscious about the paperwork mess I set it on top of.  But eh.  :P

Happiness is a tracking number from UPS for a Warmoth guitar body.  Just received.  Yeaaaaaaah buddy!  I can't wait!!!

Hey gang...new question, something just dawned on me.  Will a standard Gibson Les Paul pickguard fit this LP body I'm waiting for?  Or are the dimensions on it slightly different because of the difference in scale length (Gibson = 24.75", Warmoth 25.5").

Body came today...as all Warmoth fans seem to agree on this page with their own parts, the pictures don't do it justice, at all.

Tiger maple top and lightweight Makore back.

So, was the body worth selling my SRV strat to acquire?

You bet it was.  I'll try and post better images later when I have the time, get some of the flash backed off the shots.
