THAT just happened!!!!! DFA79 is officially the greatest band in the world now. their first show back after breaking up six years ago, and they incite a riot. cops on horseback. fans getting assaulted. pepper spray. tazers. fences torn down. show almost getting shut down halfway through.

DFA79 has reached legendary status.

ahh, "general discussion about guitars and basses". I just saw "general discussion". sorry about that. like pabloman said, though...does it matter? go be a thread nazi somewhere else, plz.

I always thought "Death from Above" was the 82nd Airborne?

he actually got the name from that, I believe. he said something about being in an army surplus store, and seeing the name on an old military jacket.

wait, what? posers? who are they trying to pose as? they have their own unique sound, and there is not another band on this planet that sounds like them. ESPECIALLY when they came out with their first recording in 2002. trust me, I've tried to find another band that sounds like them...not possible. it may sound like noise the first time you hear them, but actually take time to dissect and listen to the riffs...really something unique.

Just saying, DFA is 2 guys. My best friend is going crazy about this right now.

And comon, Jesse Keeler is a sick bassist.

indeed. I've known about these guys since 2003 or 2004. I'd kill to see them live. if anyone is interested, I'm in the process of making an all instrumental version of their EP and LP. I'm recording the bass parts, and I'm going to program the drums at first, but I'm going to have my drummer for Matador record real drums and mix them in.

funny you call JFK a killer bassist, though. DFA79 is the first time he played bass in a band. and after DFA, he never went back. so...not quite a bassist, but talented, none the less.

There is nothing new or unique about what they're doing.  Seriously, wow.  I'm done with this thread though; I've made my opinion known more than enough.

I just heard Rebecca Black for the first time and can't decide which is more awful....

I'm fortunate in that I've yet to hear this Rebecca Black person sing or perform or whatever it is she does. Sadly, I'm sure that day will come, and then I will be sad. The same thing happened with Justin Bieber.

yea, your ears are broken if you don't like this stuff. period. lemme guess, you don't like electronic music of any sort, as well?
