Oh, okay. I've never attempted it, but I have imagined using a vacuum fixture on a CNC mill. I have wondered occasionally how the "pros" do it. Other than the holding the stock problem, it should be pretty straightforward ... spot drill, drill, endmills, chamfer mill (if an angled edge is desired).
I have also considered thin double sided tape on an aluminum sub-plate. Either to machine the whole thing, or just to hold it until the mounting holes are drilled. After that you could use tapped holes in the mounting hole locations to further machine the final product.
Of course, if you don't have access to a CAD/CAM environment I will leave it to others for more suggestions!
Out of curiosity, what type of pickguard are you thinking of?
