Hello!
I am considering to do a Warmoth build.... I have parts selected already, and want to see if you have any comments about it or something.
Like incompatible parts, or maybe I can do the same for cheaper?

I have chose a neck and body from stock, having them build was too expensive for me...

Neck is a Warmoth Pro Construction Stratocaster® Guitar Replacement Neck. Maple with Indian Rosewood fingerboard, 22 frets, 61000SS frets(the bigger ones), prepared for a lsr roller nut. Satin finish. Nice thing is that it has a reversed headstock, not so nice is that it as inlays(I dont really like inlays...) $292

Body is an Alder Soloist, no other wood top. It has contoured heel and recessed Wilkinson tremolo cavity(they will insert the studs from the brigde in the order).
Routed for HSH, and all of the possible control drilled and battery box. Unfinished. $197

In the Warmoth cart I also have:

  • Gotoh Wilkinson tremolo VS100
  • Electrosocket with Switchcraft Jack
  • Neck plate and correct screws
  • Roller T String Retainer for Guitar, Pair
<--- Might not buy these
  • Battery box
  • Fender LSR roller nut
  • Wiring kit
  • 3 blade way switch
  • 2  on/on/on mini switches

On other sites carts I have...
  • Pickups
  • Tone moster Pream
  • Dunlop Straplocks
  • Necessary knobs and switches tips
  • Schaller Style concentric locking tuners
<--- These are cheap replicas, I guess... Reall schallers are to expensive for me right now.
[/list]

My plan is to put a pair of Lace sensor Duallys in the bridge and neck positions, leaving the middle empyt for now. The mini switches are meant to select between each dually possible configuration; and the blade is a 'global' selector for whatever is on either dually. I will have to drill two holes for this...

I will be using Tone Monster SBK-3AB (http://www.ebay.com/itm/111234215444, which has the volume and tone controls. I will be removing the blend pot from the circuit...

This will need an stereo jack, and two concentric pots besides a normal one for the volume.
Dunlop straploks and "Schaller style concentric lock tuners" from ebay...

I will be doing this with the body (http://youtu.be/9pGrhc1jQBY), just with Evangelion manga :).

If my calculations are right, all of this would be around $784USD; without the materials for the finish.

Is there anything Im forgetting? Anything I could do for cheaper?
What do you think of the build itself?
I play Hard Rock and Metal, more similar to the 80s one that the modern one.

Thank you very much!!

Welcome to the board! We have a lotta fun here, and look forward to the progress on this build.

As for suggestions...

1. Get rid of the string trees - you won't need them
2. You might want to put some tuners on that neck
3. Some strap pegs for the body will probably come in handy, too
4. Knobs for the pots are usually convenient

Good luck!

I just got some questions...

Where is the tuss rod access in these necks? By the pictures on the site it does not seem like it is at the headstock, or at the heel  ???
A body usually comes with all holes drilled? For example the ones for pickup rings and for the back cavity cover, or the ones for muunting the jack...

Thank you very much :)

I don't have a loose "Pro" neck to take pictures of at the moment, but the main adjustment is at the heel. They also have a side adjust access for fine tuning, if required. It rarely is. Their "Pro" necks are freakishly stable.

The body isn't drilled for anything other than any control holes you might ask for, the neck mounting holes, and if it's routed for a vibrato bridge of some sort then they'll drill the mounting holes for the spring claw. Also, any access holes necessary for wiring access will be there. Holes for mounting jack plates, pick guards, mounting rings, etc. are up to you, but they're easy.

Oh, i see, thank you :).

Doing this kind of thing seems very fun! And not *that* expensive...  :guitaristgif:

I know I've usually found it to be a great deal of fun. Once in a while you run into a problem child - Jaguars, for instance - but overall it's an extremely satisfying experience.
