Here's the "Chunk-E-Caster," and it is MY kinda Tele!  I found the body on the clearance section and wanted to build one that was somewhat true to the original, but modernized.

The body is alder with a flame maple top.  The finish is tangerine burst.  The neck is a AAA birdseye maple with a kingwood fingerboard.  6100 frets and MOP inlay dots; corian nut.

The bridge pup is a DiMarzio Tone Zone-T, and the neck is a Seymour Hot Rails neck.  The electronics are CTS 500k pots and an RS 0.022 tone cap.  The switch is a CRL 3 way.  The jack is the standard Tele electroplug with a Planet Waves jack.

The tone is chunky all the way, and the cleans are killer.

Of course you will recognize the custom neck plate.

Kudos to DangerousR6 for the term "Chunk"  Otherwise, it would have been "Crunch-E-Caster."

Now you better put it in the rack with the others for you know who see's it..... :glasses9:

Dude, what are you gonna do with the guitars when you're old and withered and un able to play guitar?

Or are you just gonna be Keith Richards and just somehow keep playing.

Well, its gonna be a while before that comes.  After that, my kids will get my guitars.
I darn wish my dad built guitars.............

After looking at this guitar for a while, I'm wondering if swapping out the hardware for chrome might look better.  Any thoughts?

chrome always looks better ;)

besides... I can barely see the hole for the string in black tuning pegs hahahaha ;)

IMHO chrome (with its sparkle) tends to take some of the pop out of finishes on figured wood.  I like chrome on solid finishes though.

Why not swap out the control plate and see what you think, it's the least intrusive.  :dontknow:

Another thought would be gold hardware.  Hmmmm, decisions, decisions.

Even least intrusive (and cheaper) might be to get chrome and gold pup rings for the neck pup and see how they look on the wood.

Do like Gregg did on his LP, one gold one chrome.....Guess he couldn't make up his mind.... :toothy12:

Sorry, that may work for him, but not for me.  Look at it this way, you might get an order for yet another plate.

Don't know yet.  I'll have to see what the other colors look like.
