Carved Top Telecaster - Work in Progress

Thanks, a regular tele never really appealed to me. I think the carved top tele's are beautiful. Everyone should own one.    :toothy11:

I have a wish list
A Toranado
A 12 string
A Fender Corondo
And a Jazz Box, full size, preferably a D Angelico
to add to the 4 axes I have right now

And you post this build and screw up my plans as this is such a sweet guitar I am jealous

Now I need therapy

:laughing7: Yeah, didn't realize how big they were...This one is just with everything sitting onto. No assembly will be done until the weekend
you should have someone that used to be an art major paint cream binding on that neck and body. :binkybaby:

Beautiful looking axe Pete. Are you going with active pickups, or is the extra route at the back for something else? great video too.

EMG system, 2x EMG 89 (dual sound) 18v mod (double battery box), 1 x SPC, 1 x EXG tone circuits.

Video was posted up elsewhere on this forum by someone else....did a search on You Tube and there's a variety of the same theme song with different videos.

Pete that is one sweet Tele.  One of the closest LP versed Teles I've seen.  I've got an 89 and 89R in one of my Teles.  The 89R is the same, just the other coil when in single coil mode.

I love this guitar!

Yeah I have the 89R and 89. The 89R will go into the neck position and the 89 in the bridge. You are right about the coils being opposed to each other so the main 'pickup' tone is in the correct position and the logo not upside down.

Not intentionally trying to mimic a LP done in a Tele kinda way, just wanting an UberTele. I have had the EMG system for years and not been able to get it working in a guitar yet as the previous guitar shape (Jazzmaster) just couldn't fit all the electronics in.

Body is mahogany one piece with a Unique Choice Quilt Maple cap....what I am trying to do here is get the body woods working well with the EMGs.....the JM was maple and the EMGs on their own without the tone circuits sounded very sterile. Mahoigany may make it less edgy... Neck is Flamed Koa on Ebony and I'm kinda anxious to hear the Koa neck and ebony board....it may prove too edgy.....but fingers crossed it will sound OK. Koa is rated by Warmoth as close to Mahogany in tone capabilities so I'm in the ballpark of where I need to be. BTW, that neck was in the Showcase for weeks.....

Ran into a roadblock. I realized that the screws I was planning on using for mounting the pickup  would be too long. My rough calculations say they would have been very close to driving right through the back of the body.

Off to the hardware, for something shorter. Updated pics coming soon...
