Hey all!

I have been reading a lot of the info on this site for quite a few months to help make an informed decision to build a good guitar for my first warmoth project. I have put one together many years ago, but i was young and impatient!

So i decided this time to go with a body and neck that didn't cost TOO much money, and if this one works out - the next one will be similar but probably with a Flame Maple blue burst, and a baritone version.

This time around I chose in-stock parts - a Mahogany carved top body which i had finished in gloss black. I also chose a one-piece Birdseye Maple neck with abalone dot inlays which warmth put a gloss finish on before shipping it out.

It ended up arriving to me in Australia about 4 weeks after i ordered - pretty stoked!

Here are a couple of pics:

I have also just started a blog which you can check out more details here:

You're gonna find that body very comfortable to play.  And that neck is pure sex - looking forward to the finished product.  Any word on the hardware and other goodies you'll install?

Welcome to the club...

A man can hardly go wrong with a black carved top geetar, but damn,
when you put a neck like that  :glasses9: on there, she is a winner  :headbang1:
Keep the pics a rollin'
:rock-on:

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

At the moment i have the following parts or they are on order:

Seymour Duncan Custom Bridge HB
Seymour Duncan Jazz Neck HB

I'm going to coil tap these also..

Planet Waves Auto Trim tuners

At the moment i have the chrome GOTOH bridge and stop tail, but i am going to order the Ghost piezo bridge i think. Just need to save up a bit more $$. Been doing a bit of research on a few of the piezo bridges on the market and it looks like that may be the best for my needs.

I have chrome knobs and chrome pickup rings. So the body with some of the hardware sitting on it should look a little like this:

Nice. I had a similar urge not too long ago, and put this together...

Slightly different choices, but the spirit is there.

Nice to see another TOM Tail  :icon_thumright:

:icon_scratch: Seems to be a few Tele's at the moment .... darn you Cagey

Awesome build, and as everyone else says, that neck is the shyt. BE maple makes some of the prettiest necks... :icon_thumright:

you don't like anything but les pauls, what's new... :dontknow:

Doesn't the quintessential Les Paul have an opaque black finish with chrome hardware? Following that would probably be the opaque gold finish with chrome hardware? In both cases, we hit 40% to 60% hated items.

I know  :laughing7: how schizo is that, right?

and I don't like les pauls exclusively. I like flying V's, sg's and strats. In that order. ;

Don't sweat it; I'm just as bad. I have a growing urge to get another Paul - I've always wanted either a wine or white w/ gold hardware version. I always lose my ass on them, though. I lust after one, then after several years of agonizing about it I get one. Then 6 months to a year later I sell it because I don't play it. Kinda like a dog chasing cars. Can't figure out why I do it after I succeed at catching one. You'd think I'd learn <grin>
