Carved top Tele Controls

Hi guys... I'm asking a lot of questions lately, as I get closer to deciding what I want from a build.

But can anyone answer me why I can get Strat Controls on a normal Tele, but not on a carved top?

I thought it might have something to do with the controls being on the carved slope, but you can do LP controls which are towards to edge too...

I want rear rout too, which is the only option on carved top obviously, but I prefer to show the wood rather than a pick guard even on the flat top...
