So my new laney pro tube lead head should be back to me by the end of the week and im about to sell a guitar and a marshall mg half stack, so ill be in good shape to buy a new cab to go with this head, I'm currently looking into an orange 4-12 with v-30's, a marshall 1960a/b, or a marshall 1960av/bv.
any suggestions? what are yall's favorite cabs?

Probably not your fancy, but the bigger Dual Showman Reverb cabinet with 2 x 15" JBL D130F's was something that is damned hard to beat, except by using two of them.

Sorry to rain on your 4x12 parade, but I really prefer single speaker cabs.  There is less beaming and strange phasing effects.  As a result they sound much more natural in a recording or live environment.  And a nice 1x12 is a hell of a lot easier to lift, load, and find room for on a crowded stage.

The V30 is a good speaker - can't go wrong there.  It's a personal choice thing (isn't everything?), but I've always got good results from Eminence speakers, especially the GB12.

Where are you going to find one of those?

If I wanted one, I'd probably just build one.

I have a Mesa 4x12, which sounds exactly like you'd expect... big and loud and powerful.  I kinda wish it was a 2x12 because I can't really drag a 4x12 to practice...

Avatar cabs.  He builds 'em right, builds 'em good - at a fair price.

Unless of course, you gotta have the name brand thing goin'.

I've got an H/H 1x12" cab, I'm not sure how old it is as there are no model numbers or serial numbers however I don't really care as it sounds good and only cost me £10.  :icon_biggrin:

I just visited avatar's website, lower price and any speaker config i want, that sounds like the way im gonna go, also 3-4 hundred less than what i was looking at, for the same thing.

Another satisfied Avatar customer.  I've got 2 8 ohm, Custom Traditional 212's: one with dual Blues, and one with a V30/G12H30 combo.  They both sound excellent and have stood up to the rigors of the road.  I love 'em both and can't recommend then enough.

They're out there!~  And there are repro's.  Getting JBL D130F's is a bit of a snag... but the EV-Force15 is just about a dead ringer in tone for the D130, and...what it might lack in transparancy it makes up for in great price on the used market <- very inexpensive!  I've two Force12's currently in the Twin Reverb (73), and I really dont miss not having JBL's in it.  The jazz players, who really like the JBL tone often use the Force series from EV as a replacement when a good JBL is a bit too dear for ones wallet. (sadly the Force have discontinued some time ago).
