Buzz on a vintage speaker

I have a vintage speaker..a old C12n Jensen , that clearly has THE mojo. Its nearing the end of it's life expectancy, as most are. It's in a 2x12 cabinet with another of the same that was reconed by Weber, who did a job par-xcellance.
Sure, easy to say to get it reconed. I'm gonna give you a hypothetical scenario..fast forward 2000 years... All old speakers with THE tone are nowhere to be found ... but you find one ..that buzzes..do you play it?
How much buzz is acceptable?

Νο. Νοne.
I just ordered a new speaker and it had buzz from the first note. I contacted the company and they are sending a replacement. Why play a speaker with buzz  :dontknow:

BTW... I don't believe in mojo, only in great tone.

I'm not sure on the pricing of C12n Jensens, but Ted Weber does fantastic replacement speakers.
These are the 3 that are probably closest to what you're after:

*I now see you've had one reconed by Weber already.

How much buzz is acceptable?  Depends on your ears and no-one else.

`course if it were my speaker I'd repair it.  Not necessarily re-cone, but have a look at the buzz and see if I could do something about it.  I've had good luck with old speakers by using contact cement to put a little patch over a broken area.  Used the paper cone from a clock radio speaker as donor material.

I wouldn't mind a little buzz.  If I wanted to play a nice rendition of the Kinks "You Really Got Me."

Other than that, it would bother me.
