Warmothers,

Seeking advice.  Just got my Warmoth chambered strat body but made the point-and-click mistake of specifying standard Fender bushing holes which are about 9.5mm.  But I've got a Gotoh Trem with 10mm bushings.  Would like advice on widening the holes without splintering the area around them - and messing up my nice flame maple top.

Thanks,

Isaac

Low grit sandpaper (like 40 or 80) wrapped around a dowel slightly narrower than the existing hole.  Slowly sand evenly in a circle to widen it.  Stop and check frequently.

The dowel rod/sandpaper method worked very nicely.

I have  a new issue.  I guess that the Gotoh 510TFE1 routings are just enough different than Fender American Standard that the lateral alignment is off.  Needs to come about 1/8" laterally toward the player so that the strings are exactly where they should be over the frets in lower registers.

I welcome any/all ideas.

Thanks,

Isaac

You need to widen the rout slightly to accomodate the Gotoh 510 tremolo arm bushing. With that done it should align correctly assuming the widened holes are on centre.
