Sorry for the double posts about my j-bass project, but this seemed like it warranted it's own thread. I've having some trouble with the final stages of finishing my tru-oiled j-bass, but I tested a small area (on the back behind the neck plate) with some Briwax this morning to see if it would help with some of the problems I've run into with a mottled surface. I was following the directions on the can, and it was a disaster. Perhaps I got a bad batch or was doing something else wrong, but it took two significant chunks right out of the finish when I was buffing it off (by hand with a clean cotton cloth). Has anyone else encountered this with Briwax? And even though the directions say it can be removed with mineral spirits, that didn't help to get it off, either. Again, luckily this is in an area that won't show when the project is done, but... yikes.
