Bridge Choice

What is the proper choice if I want a stop tail?  If I choose American Standard, that would probably be a good stud location/spacing right?  But then it would get a route job that I don't want.  Just curious, this is probably obvious and I just don't see it.

If you want a stop tail like you'd find on a Les Paul, you would choose a tune-o-matic to go with the stop tail.

but tuneomatic isn't an option on the strat bodies

Doubt you will ever find one in the showcase, the option is available on the custom builder
So even on the showcase guitars where they are asking what bridge rout you want, it's not an option?  That seems weird.

The showcase pick-a-bridge-rout guitars usually have the trem spring cavity routed, which is incompatible with the TOM/STP combo.  Any showcase strat with a fixed bridge will likely be pre-drilled for a flat-mount bridge.  It's just what the market demands, nothing personal.

Ah I didn't realize routing for the springs made a hard tail hard to do.

If you select in the showcase under Strats for Any Hardtail or click the link below you will see what's available.

Most are flat mount strat Hardtail bridges. There is one recessed Tuneomatic when I looked just now.

The flat mount also gives the option to have it re routed for a 2TEK bridge.

hey, thanks for that info.  That was very helpful.

Funny, I thought the ones with that drill pattern were for vintage trem.  Learning stuff every day.  Gratzi.

I'm not sure why they offer bridge routing for "vintage" Strat trems in the first place, As far as I know, the only neck it would work with is their "superwide" Strat. As far as I've seen, those are very rarely offered in the Showcase. I built one for somebody a couple years ago, but that's the only one I've ever seen.
