Yea I agree. One of the reasons why I developed my own distortion pedal - to get something better

As a Boss fanboy, I got one of these and, unsurprisingly, I like it a lot. Custom mode has the extra midrange the DS-1 always needed without being as extreme as the DS-2. Not sure I'll ever go back to Standard mode.
