For those of us who still listen...... Bobby and Phil are doing the New Year's Grateful Dead tradition of a show on New Year's Eve!!!! For those of us not in the San Fran Bay area Sirius radio's Dead channel is broadcasting it 3pm New Year's Day!!!!!!
Jackie Greene opens then Phil & Friends, then Ratdog!!!! Wish I was there and not here on the forum no offense. I haven't seen Bob since August, he only comes my way usually once a year. Last time was opening for the Allmans in Hershey PA rode down on the bike first dead show on a motorcycle it was truly an awesome day. A good buddy went with us on his bike and it was his first "dead" show. Bob totally blew him away. He wants a "dire wolf " tattoo now (like the inlay on Jer's Wolf guitar) This dude knew nothing about what it was really all about I kept telling him that he had to see for himself what it was all about. This guy is a hard core biker type, and something about the feeling you get while you are there well it choked him up. I call going to a Grateful Dead related show "going to church" and he looked at me and said, "Wow man it is religious!" I have seen the boys in all their incarnations with and without Jer and I have taken a few newbies to see what it is all about, but this guy really got it. I mean he's new to the game and I keep playing dead songs that are new to him which is cool. What an amazing band.
They aren't the best at what they do, they are the only ones that do what they do.
