Hello,

I'm new to the forums, and new to the board. So let me introduce myself. I love Telecasters, some of my absolute guitar heroes have played Tele's. I grew up listening to grunge, and Alternative music, all I used to see where Strats everywhere. Not a fan I'm afraid, there's just something about Strats that irk me.

So the very first time I saw a Tele I fell in love. Back then Tele's (Especially in the genre I listened too) where frowned upon. That was part of the appeal. Unfortunately now Tele's are the new Strats of the Alternative/Indie world. But I still love them.

So for my first build I wanted to build a Tele with a similar theme to one of my heroes. But at the same time, using some of the features I prefer.

So here is my inspiration.

And here is my purchase :)

very nice! i love Tele Deluxes. will definitely be keeping a close eye on this one. what kind of neck were you thinking? and what color pickguard?

Who's playing that tele on 1st pic???

Looks great your tele! What is going there (neck, pickups, pickguard...)

Welcome to the forum :D

Swamp ash, trans blue, Tele Deluxe with a battery box?  I have something like this on the drawing boards.  :headbang:

White pickguard.

For now I was thinking of P90's (Or maybe Original Fender Tele Deluxe pups)

The battery box is there in case the sound is It's too thin. If that's the case I will be using SD Blackouts (EMG like pups, but better, because they are SD)  :toothy12: . I love these pickups, but I have them in an SG, so I already know what they sound like. They are my fall back.  I really want to give the P90's a run.

Neck I'm unsure of. I play a lot of lead so I'm thinking rosewood. But I would like to keep the lighter coloured wood. So I'm thinking about that one.

K

There is a LOT of guys who play solos in all maple neck... But if you're going to get a full rosewood neck I'm totally about, specially if it's dark rosewood! :D

Ahh, the "Johnny Come Lately" of the active pickup market.  I jest...I jest.

But seriously, you had me at Tele with a battery box.

Normally I'd suggest an exotic neck that requires no finish, but in this case I think a Maple/Maple neck would be your thing.  Their Satin neck finish is Nitro, which means it's thin and will wear well.  I've got 2 of their maple necks.  One with a Satin finish, and another in Vintage Tint with Satin finish.  However with use, the Satin turns glossy, but still slick.

Canary neck  :headbang:
+1 I love my canary neck!

+2  :icon_thumright:
Canary necks rule...
+3 on Canary
+4. I can't see the pictures here at school, but Canary and blue is a winner normally. Actually blue goes with most woods, except the reddish ones.

Are there pictures of these Canary necks? I'm intrigued.

I really would like to keep the neck light coloured for looks. But at the same time I'm looking for a good sustain.

I'm in the school of thought that most of your tone comes from the neck so I want to get it right.

I REALLY! like the look of a neck that wears. I love that look that shows people you really use this guitar.

+5  Love canary on almost everything, my next Warmoth will be canary for sure.

I said wear well, I should've said that it shows wear.  Maple neck with maple fretboard sounds like what you want.  Just remember their satin finish is the Nitro finish, not the glossy.  Do you know which neck construction type you want?  They have 3.  Vintage, Vintage Modern, and Pro.  Their Vintage and Vintage modern are truer to the Fenders.  That is the neck and fretboard, if the same material, are one-piece with the addition of the contrasting "skunk stripe" for truss rod assembly.  Their Warmoth Pro neck construction is a 2 piece neck/fretboard mating with no skunk stripe and a double expanding truss rod.  If I had to guess, I'd say their Vintage Modern is up your alley.
