You're going to love that neck. Wenge for a neck meat feels great, and Bloodwood is like a dark red Ebony: very dense, hard and smooth. Excellent choices for that body from a practical, aesthetic and tonal point of view. If those EMGs work out well, I can see this becoming your main guitar.

If I don't like the EMGs they'll get sold & I'll try something else
Woodwise I don't think I've ever seen a "Wenge sucks" thread, and I too have read bloodwood is akin to ebony.
(and yes, stainless frets, but I think that was a given)

I've got a set of EMGs for one of my VIPs as well, and had the same thought. If they don't work out, there's always eBay to find them a new home and adopt something different from. The guitar they're going into has some Bloodwood involved as well, but it's the neck meat rather than the fretboard. 'Board is Ebony. So, we'll be like identical cousins <grin>

You'll probably get yours done before I do, though. I still have finish problems, so it's unlikely it'll be completed much before May.

All hardware has been ordered. (minus an R6 neckplate, which will have to wait as I haven't flushed out the design idea quite yet)

All the (fiddly bits of) hardware should arrive today.
I got the neck pickup yesterday, so I wired everything but the pup selector up (the only bit I'll actually be soldering), and the bridge pup will just pop into place.
Neck should arrive wednesday, in which case I suppose I could make a new thread for that... however I'll probably just proceed immediately to Work In Progress and hopefully will waltz its way to the finished VIP thread.
