Black Sabbath Back to the Beginning

Saw them at Ozzfest 2005 in Camden NJ where Ozzy couldn’t make it and they flew in Rob Halford to fill in. It was a very odd show. People didn’t know if they wanted to be excited or start a riot.

Saw them again on the tour in 2014 without Bill Ward. It was probably the most age diverse show I’ve ever been to. Everything from little kids under 10 to geriatrics with walkers and oxygen tanks in equal proportion.

Sucks I never actually got to see the real full lineup.

Ozzy didn't show up for Ozzfest 97 at Polaris in Columbus, Ohio. Phil Anselmo from Pantera said over a live mic "Ain't no way he's showin' up - I'm getting somewhere safe" and then there was a full fledged riot where the fences were ripped down and set ablaze bonfire style. Maybe the tour learned a valuable lesson that day.

I saw them several times with the original lineup in the 70's, and also Dio with the Heaven & Hell tour (which was probably the best show).

I was fortunate growing up in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area as all the big bands played here.......

Anyone going to get the Pay per View For this show ? It would be cool to see the original Sabbath back, and lots of other bands playing all day. only $30 so I'll probably do it. It starts at 9am Central Time since it's in England. I'll just have it on all day while I'm working on Guitars...... :D

Do you feel as if you will wear boots whilst you watch it?

I made a rule several years ago that I won’t pay to see any act live with members over 40 years old. I’ve stuck to it although 44 year old Father John Misty is coming to Iowa this year so I might make an exception. (Plus I like Dio Sabbath more).

Man, I would’ve missed out on some great shows if I followed that rule

At least this show will be unique. It’s their first show in years and supposedly last so who knows what will happen. It’s not like they’ve been doing the same routine night after night. That alone makes it more intriguing to me.

Though, the few videos you have posted (that I watched) feature 50 year old plus songs as backing.
I’m over 40, and I wouldn’t pay to watch me either. 😄 I’m just about the world’s biggest Beatles fan but I wasn’t willing to drive 20 minutes to see Paul McCartney when he played near me 7 years ago. I feel like there’s a point where a performer is going through the motions, the stage banter is all scripted, and nothing spontaneous will happen. But then I see an old timer like Springsteen who seemed genuinely psyched to be playing in Liverpool for the first time earlier this year so you never know…

Fair enough… one of the best shows I’ve been to was Tommy Emmanuel in a candlelit theater in BFE Pennsylvania. Mind blowing.
I guess I’m thinking more of rock and roll or anything loud. I’ve been working on The Duke by Tommy Emmanuel for a long time now. I’m terrible at finger picking.
