Ok, I have a Gibson Gothic V. There was a fracture right where the headstock meets the neck.
The fracture didn't go all the way through. I got it fixed by a local guy who usually does great work.
Well, ever since getting it back, the back of the neck has been a bit sticky, it would have little bits of red fibers on the neck from sitting in its case.
So I decided to try to take off a bit of paint and tung oil the neck to make it feel smoother. Well, when i started to sand the neck, that's when it got really bad and it seems like the more I sand the goopier it gets. So, now I don't know what to do. Should I just keep sanding to bare wood? Will that mess up the repair? Can I tung oil it after this? Should I find a pro to fix it?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I hope that this is not the case but........
sounds like his glue is interacting with his finish, not good, if it is getting stickier as you sand then the 2 chemicals as not compatible and when they mix you are getting a bad reaction that will only increase as the wet part starts to dissolve the dried parts. Ever paint a plastic model before the glue had cured, well that is what.I think is going on.
I am not sure, but if this is the case, you need to start all over, separating it back apart, cleaning off all the chemicals, reglueing, waiting for that to FULLY cure and then finish it.
