First thing, it was wonderful to put together, this is my second build the first was a totally non-Warmoth Esquire sort of thing,

that I did the finish in Tru-oil, wood from guiltarbuild.co.uk, nice guitar, but the Warmoth's predrilled holes made sticking on the bridge and attaching the neck, dead easy, well it was like when you take a neck off and back again. The Nut was cut almost perfectly. And fortunately I sorta know which end of a soldering iron to hold.

I wouldn't go for the Contoured Heel or slim neck next time, it's heavy, maybe I should have gone for a lighter wood, maybe it wouldn't sustain as well. maybe. but its all experience isn't it?

Plays great, bearing in mind I only just slapped the bridge on gave it a couple of turns, and well, left it, even the intonation seems right!

Sound is, I don't know if this is the right term, but it's quite hard, aggressive sound. The note come in fast and clear, I like, but it's not a traditional fretless sound. Still that's what the tone knob is for! I like

How much that has to do with the wood, and how much to do with the Lace Alumatone pickups I wouldn't like to say. But lace use the term 'Hi-fi' to describe the pickup tone, and I'd go along with that. High tops, really clean deep bass. rather active sounding. Some could call them sterile I suppose, but I like them.

Sorry about the inept filming, but I think you get the general idea.

Edited to add the playing video that also disappeared:

I haven't listened to Don Juan's Reckless Daughter in a few years, but it's a fantastic album!

Purpleheart is indeed a hard wood to pair with most bodies, but you got lucky with this one. The colors work together. Do keep in mind that the wood will darken into a warm brown, within the next few years.

:do the Bump!:

I've been looking into this, as my neck has definitely darkened on the back where my (obviously) greasy, dirty hand slides up and down.  And I've come the conclusion I actually like the aged dark browny/purple look, it'll be great with the black hardware

Also, it's now officially finished now I've got the black metal logo on it, and the Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky flats, give me that roundwoundish sound I love. Even if the dark lavender wraps do clash a bit with the Purpleheart.

Actually, maybe a no-load tone pot would make an slight improvement, etc etc...

Also, the colour Bloodwood ages to,

I was surprised to see that Bloodwood link - I used some shots from that site somewhere (probably here) and they ended up blocking me. Didn't want me using their bandwidth, I guess. Can't blame 'em for that.

Anyway, speaking of aged Bloodwood, I recently moved an Ebony over Bloodwood neck from a VIP to candy cola Strat body, and noticed it had aged a bit and darkened up. Works out well, as the Strat color matches up with it very nicely.

I like the color match-up you got with that. Looks really nice.
