best pickup for blues in a tele.

just looking for recomendations for pup's in a tele for a nice bluesy sound. i have teles with fender nocasters, rio grande dirty harrys, looking for something different.

Might help if you could define the "bluesy sound" you can't get with your current PU sets. Jimmy Page and Roy Buchanan got incredible blues tone playing mid-late '50's Teles with stock pickups, might want to look for something "vintage 50s repro" available from several sources. Your amp MUST have tubes....

I have several that work great. I have nocaster's in one the dirty harry's in a nother, Twisted telle in two fender custom shop guitars. They all work great. I use either a 1961 Gibson meastro amp(18watts all orginal) or a fender super sonic. I'm just looking for something with a little different flavor.I've got a couple of strats ect.  i don't like fender texas special too ice picky for me. i am wanting something that will clean up when i take the volume done on the guitar nice an smooth then have some nice bight when iturn up and bite in with the pick with out loosing that warm feeling. hope that makes sense.

Maybe try some humbuckers that can be configured to series / paralle / single coil - lots of tone options there.

You looking for something that will fit in existing stock PU routes, or for another build where HB routes could be ordered?

If the former, I did an upgrade for a kid that plays in my girlfriend's son's band and put a Rio Grande Vintage Tallboy Tele neck pickup and a Rio Grande Muy Grande in bridge in his MIM Tele. Sounded so good that I have a set for myself for a Tele build in the stack of unfinished projects in the basement. The neck Vintage Tallboy is great for blues sounds, cleans up nicely with vol knob turned down, but more balls than a NoCaster type pickup cranked up. Muy Grande works in the same manner but Muy balls cranked.

thanks jack deffinetly want single coils  i'm looking into the rio grande  does the tall bou work better then the muy grande in the neck?

Haven't tried any other RG Tele neck pickup other than the Dirty Harry and the Vintage Tallboy, seems like the Muy Grande in neck might be a bit hotter than what it sounds like you're looking for from your description.
