Firstly, Hi everyone... I have been trawling this site on and off for a long time, but never been able to contribute. So thanks for all the brilliant reading material to date :)

For my first post, I would like to share with you my new arrival.

Black Korina strat and Canary neck.

This is my first warmoth, and first build, having played countless great production guitars.... and more recently, my search for a Fender Strat, which has lead me to try quite a number, with none quite convincing me!! So i thought, I would try building the one I have pictured in my head :)

Nice parts!  I am a big fan of my canary'n'ebony neck.  I reckon you'll feel similarly once  yours is put into service.  And what's not to love about a subtle burst on BK?  Good choices.  Looking forward to seeing it come together.

And welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forum! We have a lot of fun here, and look forward to your participation!

That's a beautiful body and an excellent choice for the neck. They go together quite well. I'm sure you're going to end up in lust with the thing by the time you're done with it. I'll look forward to seeing the end result. Of course, we all want to see 7,982 interim pictures as it comes to life.

Any idea what you're going to use for pickups yet?

The wood grain is gorgeous, lots of stuff happening on there!!
Will obviously post hi-res pictures as we go along ;)

Finished in brown to clear
Chambered, light weight,
black korina on black korina
HSS routing
Vintage trem

The neck is amazing, feels really fast, and finished very well... may not need a 2000 grit sanding at all... but will see how it is once its all up and running for a month or so.

Re pickups, i was originally thinking a bareknuckle HSS set, as i have bareknuckles in my les paul, and love them.
But i have instead chosen to go with a Klein s-5 set.

The reason being, I love the neck and "inbetween" tones of a strat, and the Kleins seem to nail it pretty well from my research.
Also, being a scooped Mids set, Im thinking this will balance well with the woods... as im guessing BK will be more mid focused in tone.

HARDWARE:
I have been searching for a lightly aged gold set, but had no luck!
So i have aged fender nickle parts instead.

Looking Good .... Sounding great  :icon_thumright:

Canary is pretty smooth straight out of the box.

Also so you know ...
ALL RAW necks and Un-Finished Bodies are Factory sanded to 220.
So you can get much slicker if you wanted to.
See here (we have a special thread on that) ... http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19901.0

Thanks for the link on the raw neck finishing... results looks incredible!

The raw neck is a large part of why I decided to go with warmoth, and I have a feeling I wont be able to go back to a gloss neck after this!
