Hi all

i haven't been on here in over 4 years, took myself away from playing guitars and gigging,  as the novelty had worn off after 40yrs and had myself doing other things.

I recently finished a Baritone i had started back then and its a fine player, i have the urge again to put some projects together and mod some of my guitars, heck i might even do a show or two at some stage, i guess the feeling is back.

I have a question or 2 someone may be able to help me with?
I am doing a 12 string build and want to get a Warmoth tele body with a universal route, i am wondering does the pool go back to nearly the bridge, as i have a strange pickup combination i need to try, more on that later.

2: The Warmoth 12 string neck, i dont want the 65 and i am not sold on the rounded headstock one, but the one that was on the strat XII years ago appeals to me, from memory Warmoth used to make them, i am wondering if they might do a custom or they still do that headstock design.

Heres some pics of the Baritone:

thanks in advance

Nice axe.

About the 12 string...I ode red a '65 and will be reshaping the headstock.  There is plenty of material.  There is even a good template for ideas on shapes that was sent to me from another member.  I can forward if you like.

I think you'll want to call about the universal route. There doesn't appear to be a builder option to get the strat universal route on a tele body, and without a pic showing it clearly will work for your needs I don't think I'd just order from the builder without talking to someone.

Are you sold on the tele body? I hate to talk someone out of their dream, but if you're not getting a tele bridge pickup and bridge plate, I don't see any reason to give up the strat's better strap button location. A hardtail strat is basically a tele in drag already.

Hi mate
yeh there is a universal route available in the hybrid tele, i havent checked the rest, i was hoping someone could iinform me how big the pool is, or maybe have a picture. Last 2 builds have been strat styles, so going back to teles i seem to like them more, been playing a G&L  ASAT special since the 90's and love the shape.

I already have the Gotoh 12 string bridge and the pickups, a custom pickguard is on order.

Heres the pickups G&L Z coils

Heres my ASAT, you will notice the pickguard on these goes all the way back to the bridge, thats the template i am working on.

Oy. In that case since you're already routing the pickguard I take it, I'd just wait until you have em in your grubby mitts before plunging in.

Plunging not plugging. Alway cut the pickguard last

Yeh a pickguard is being routed for Z coils, i will then put it up against one of the teles bodies i have here and make sure i get an exact fit, trouble is all my tel bodies are routed for everything barring Z coils, that why i need the pool route.

cheers

I have had a  prototype pickguard made and mocked it up on a tele standard body i have here. If the middle route had of been a HB this would have fit straight up.
