Because I can, now that I busted the G machine head on my OLP mm3. I don't really have the scratch for a whole new bass, besides, I'm Kind of fond of this one. I figured if I'm going to swap out one machine head, Might as well replace all of them with nicer, more precise name brand ones like hipshots. And H*ell while I'm at it I might as well put a detuner in while I'm at it if it will fit, just 'cause most of the time tuning machines come in four packs and this is a five string.

My dilemma is this: What size machine heads does this thing take? The current tuners are open gear, reversible schaller type, but they're chinese. They're identical to these http://www.hembryguitars.com/guitar%20web%20stuff/DiamondDestroyer/DiaDest%20%288%29.jpg. My thanks to Hembry guitars for being the only other user of the machine heads I could find.

I'm tempted to buy hipshot HB1's or schaller BML's. If the mounting holes don't line up, should I just fill them in with epoxy and re drill new holes?

Thanks.

Hipshots are sold individually, not in 4 packs.

Your best bet is to email Hipshot, they can usually tell you which model of tuner will fit the bass.
