17mm ream on Deluxe 5-inline headstock?

Hi all (Long time lurker, first time poster),
I'm putting together a 5-string, with an inline-5 deluxe neck.

While biding my time waiting for parts to ship, I realized that I blindly clicked through the GB7 tuner ream -- and that there wasn't an option for anything larger.

So, subject says it all --
  • is there enough meat on the inline-5 headstock to ream for 17mm[/u] (Fender Am Std) tuners and not invite catastrophe?
  • Is there sufficient spacing between holes for tuners to play nicely?  (This is a wenge neck, if anyone is playing along and doing finite-element-analysis of wood stresses at home!)

This is not a request for Warmoth to ream my existing order to suit (although that'd be great).  It's a "is this possible given the amount of wood and hole spacing?" question...

On a related note, does anyone have a CAD drawing of the Warmoth 5-string headstocks?

Welcome to the forum.

That particular neck is only available with predrilled 14mm holes for GB7 style tuners. I am assuming the reasons are probably due to weight and space available not being sufficient for larger tuners such as the ones you mentioned.

It is highly unlikely anyone has a CAD drawing other than Warmoth who would not be sharing them. If you are wanting to do a comparison you could try the pictures at the links below. To my eye you will not have enough space for the larger tuners you mentioned.
