Bass Tremolo

Bear with for a bit on this one. 

Given the recent body restrictions placed on W, my build list has been shuffled while certain body styles are indefinitely unavailable.  As a result, the current No. 1 spot potentially involves the use of a tremolo.  Does anyone have any experience with either the Hipshot or Kahler bass trems?

I know Les Claypool uses Kahler, and his style is definitely a large part of my inspiration for the build, but I'm not sold on the design.

I bought a vintage kahler and installed it on a Warwick.  Works great.  No tuning issues at all.  It has a very large range of motion.  I did the install myself too by my making a template of the bottom of the whammy.

A word of caution, Kahler makes TWO different bass tremolos.  One with the saddles forward like a normal guitar kahler, one with the saddles backward.  This second option is needed on basses where the bridge is normally pushed way to the tail of the bass (most FEDNERs).  This allows for proper intonation.  While the saddle backward also gives you more options on basses it can be used.  NOTE: I have never played a saddle backward model

I'm thinking I'd need to go with the backwards saddles, as the body in question will be the singlecut, short scale G4. 

I should add that I'm only looking to add some vibrato, I'm no divewanker.

I just built a shortscale G4.  You will need the backwards saddles.
