My name is Forrest, Forrest Gump. So, yunno, forgive me if I'm stupid.
A long time ago I refinished a Rickenbacker bass with results that I am still happy with. I did take off the pickguard, which brought the pickup with it. I did take off the neck. I did not take off the bridge. The patient I am considering operating on is a Telecaster, alot like this one.
Is it rocket science to take the bridge off and put it back on? Difficult to take the control pod off?
Now, onto the body. The guitar I am aiming at is this one. The first guitar has an Alder body, the dreamboat has an Ash body. So, first question is, can I match the COLOR of that Ash body on an Alder (I'm sensing this might be a really stupid question, but I figure it is better to ask). Is the grain of Alder notoriously bogus, and that is why the first guitar is stained/painted?
Does any expert out there know the exact stain used to get that sweet, aged butterscotch color?
Any tips on finding out?
Is there a tinted poly that I can spray on the first neck to get it to have that more orangey aged look (without needing to strip/refinish the neck)?
(Not that the neck neck color is as important to me as the body and black pickguard.)
Any obvious questions I'm omitting please rhetorically ask them and offer your answers.
TIA.
