Hey guys & gals, I'm new to the forum, no stranger to Warmoth though! Thought I'd share the Baritone Marauder build I'm doing for a friend of mine, enjoy! (sorry some of the pics aren't of amazing quality!)

specs:

Warmoth Flat top LP body (Poplar)

Warmoth Baritone Conversion neck, flying V headstock, (Maple with rosewood fingerboard)

Pickups will be Duncan P-rails with a 3-way toggle and a mini switch for single-rail/P90/humbucker tones

my buddy wants a finish similar to these gibbos:

Cool!!! But if you need to make advertisement as "looks isn't everything" why don't you makes a prettier guitar instead of such idiot adv?

oh you mean the lame-@$$ gibson advertisement with KISS? yeah... really stupid! haha.

from WIkipedia:

"The Kiss connection:
The Marauder was heavily promoted by the rock band Kiss in the 1970s. Gibson ads featuring them even went so far as to call the Marauder "the Kiss axe". There was a Paul Stanley signature model known as "the midnight special" with Paul's signature on the pickguard. He and Ace Frehley were pictured with them during photo-shoots and Stanley with them onstage, but they generally did not play them live. Paul Stanley is seen playing the Marauder on the 1975 airing of "Deuce" on "The Midnight Special"(Upon reviewing the Kiss "Midnight Special" videos on "YouTube", Paul Stanley can clearly be seen playing his Gibson L6S in all three clips, not the similar looking Marauder.) . Stanley also used them at the end of concerts for his guitar smashing finale."

Now don't hate on me all you Gibson lovers out there, but Gibbo did some stupid things back in the day (like that lame kiss marauder poster) and they're just downright idiotic with the crap they're turning out today. my 2 cents... ;)

So yeah, I'm no gibson lover, but my buddy wanted a baritone marauder, so that's what we're building; and since it's Warmoth it'll be way more awesome!

I love watching any build from scratch, as I give the finishing side a miss these days, because i'm no good at that part.  :toothy11:

Nice work  :icon_thumright: keep them pic's rolling in.

I got a couple of Gibson's plus (sold a DarkFire recently) Was into the latest technology .... But I kind a agree with you...
:icon_scratch: WHY ...
Check this latest out ..... It would be the WORST FINISH on a Gibson I have ever seen. (I don't mean the paint work)

:glasses9: Look at the body :o  :o  :o

High school kids can do a better finish on skateboard's in woodwork classes  :laughing7:

no kidding! that finish is HORRIBLE! haha, is that supposed to be a "textured Crater-burst" finish? ;) I jest....

and I don't hate Gibson at all actually, I love the old school Les-Paul's and SG's, simply because of what they did for rock/classic rock throughout the decades (and all music for that matter)

I really want one of the old silverburst Les Paul's, and either a LP Custom or Standard from 1983 (simply because that's the year I was born! haha)

Marauders are a neglected form of awesome guitar - glad to see one pop up again.

And speaking of pop  - that's Poplar?  This is the "cheap" wood?  That's some fantastic looking grain on that top.   And it dyes nicely, and it's cheap, and sounds almost identical to alder.... methinks poplar will be making an appearance in my guitar building future.

More pics on this when you get 'em - this looks awesome.

thanks for the kind words Dangerous, I've been poking around on the forum, do you do custom engraved neck-plates?
Yes indeed I do, you need something special for this build...?

Yes, it's a nice build, even I don't liking the look of the Marauder...

But this Firebird X, people that buy it should receive a "Rozan Shōryūha" on the face after pay it... :laughing7:
