Is there a chrome or black cover you could put on the neck pickup?

No kidding, the cream is not great. I'd love to find blank chrome jazzmaster cover but I haven't been able to find one yet. I'll keep looking and get a black or white one if I can't.

Allparts has them: Black They also have white ones but I don't think that would look as good on it. The white would match the body, though.

I saw those chrome Novak pickups, they do look sweet but I read that they were painted plastic.

As for the price, I already paid premium price for pups so don't need more (on this guitar anyways)...

Nice progress. My preference, (as if you couldn't guess), would be the white cover on the neck pup. Either way, it's start'n to look awesome!

I strung it up, there's still some tweaking to do and a final setup with heavier weight strings on it and a few more details (like knobs, a string tree and a little fret love), but I absolutely dig the P90 in the neck and the overtones from the tremolo are a little lower so overall it seems to be really mellow, still nice and jangly but in a subdued way.

I spent about an hour just playing around with it through my princeton reverb and I'm super pleased. It is definitely different sounding than anything else I have.
