Hey guys,

Brand spankin' noob here. What are your collective thought on Bardens? Particularly for a strat. I've got a Clapton strat and am not a fan of lace sensors or vintage toneless.

Go to YouTube, and type in "Jimmy Thackery".

He has guitars that date to the dawn of time, and he yanks the pickups out, and replaces them with Bardens. He's a strange guy, and quite possibly the best guitarist nobody has ever heard.

Thanks,

I've heard that Barden's Tele pickups are highly touted as the HG of Tele tone. Just wondering how they translate to a Strat

nice tone!
but uhhhhh is that an actual vintage guiter that he built a FR in?????

Yep, it's a '64. The Floyd is mounted into bowling ball material.

:tard:

I like 'em. They're a little more meaty than vintage single coils, but retain an authentic vibe. And of course no noise. HG? in your fingers.

If you can make it through this video (it's painful), he plays a bunch of strats loaded with different pups. Bardens are towards the end (2:20). Gives you something to compare to. Let it load then drag the handle around to A/B different pups. I'm not sure what all the other pickups are, but based on his comments, Fralins and Texas specials are among them.
